The Miracle of Carthage

The Miracle of Carthage
Feast Day: April 28

The "miracle of Carthage," although known to few, has left people questioning its validity. However, with medical evidence supporting the testimony of those who have been "clinically dead," only to be brought back to life, there is no reason to doubt this remarkable incident that took place in the seventh century, displaying the power of the Lord.

It was a venerable ascetic named Anastasios, who lived a pious and studious life in the monastery of St Catherine's at the base of Mt. Sinai, who authored this amazing story. He made known this remarkable occurrence during the reign of Emperor Heraklios (A.D. 625) only after careful scrutiny of the truthful tale that shows the power of good over evil.

Evangelismos Youth

We begin our first activity for the term next Friday, the 24th of April, with a Board Game night. As always, we will first meet in the Church for a quick talk by Fr Emmanuel, after which we will go down to the hall and play some games.

If you haven't already had a look at our program, you can do so by clicking here.

Additional Subscriptions

As part of our recent Evangelismos Youth restructuring, we've made some improvements to the way that we can deliver news updates to you. Rather than sending out one email update each week, we're also providing you the ability to opt-in to regular Evangelismos Youth updates. What this means is, you'll be notified as soon as there are any new updates, such as location or activity details.
If you are happy waiting until the end of the week to read about everything new, that's fine but if you would prefer to also be notified in advance then this is perfect for you.

All you have to do is, scroll down to the bottom on this weekly email, and where it says, "Too many emails? Update your preferences...," click on "Update your preferences." You will then be taken to your profile where you can subscribe to the Evangelismos Youth Updates.

Evangelismos Youth: Board Game Night

We hope everyone had a restful break and a Happy Easter.
Our first activity of the term begins with a Board Game night. That's right, you heard us, Board Games!!! Where the outcome of the game may come down to the roll of a dice.

If you aren't already familiar with our procedures, we will begin the night with a talk from Father Emmanuel in the Church, after which we will make our way down to the hall for the activity. Even if you're not great at Board Games, come along, have a cup of coffee, and share in some light conversation.

While we will be providing some Board Games, if you have any at home that you really like, or haven't played in a while, bring them along and we can all share in them. Snacks will be on a BYO arrangement for this event. So, if you fancy yourself a cook, or have some snacks lying around, please bring something along.

Remember the date, next Friday, the 24th of April, at 6:30pm. If you enjoy having fun, come along, bring some food, and let's make a night of it. Who knows, you may even find yourselves dodging snakes and climbing up ladders.

Holy Week Photos

He has truly risen!

Last Sunday was Easter Sunday and on this day we celebrated the Resurrection of Christ. We prepared for this day with a forty day fast through Great Lent before reaching Holy Week, and finally Easter Sunday. While some find this period of fasting difficult, it is those that immerse themselves in this preparation that get the most out of it. To them it becomes something more; an experience. Having reached Easter Sunday, we celebrate this great feast whole-heartedly and with true joy.

It is important to note that while most people return to their homes after midnight, those that stay until the end of Divine Liturgy receive the greater reward; the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Photos from Holy Week have been uploaded to our galleries and can be accessed from here.

By the grace of God
Archbishop of Australia

to all the Reverend Clergy and devout faithful
of our holy Archdiocese.

Brother Concelebrants and beloved children in the Lord,

Christ is Risen!

Palm Sunday Photos

What a great turnout we had on Palm Sunday. The Church was adorned with Palm Leaves and at the end of the service, everyone came up to receive a Palm Cross and Bay leaves.

We'd just like to thank everyone involved in the creation of the Palm Crosses and the delicious fasting food that was brought. We started making them at 10:30am and only two hours later, we had passed our target with 850 Crosses. Hopefully, we will get to see more people for this event next year.

After the service, everyone headed down to the Monastery of St John of the Mountain for a delicious lunch. Despite the weather not being the best this year, it's certainly a great outing for the family.

Some photos from Sunday have been uploaded to our Photo Gallery and can be accessed from here.
