Today, the Greek Orthodox Community of WA Inc. held a souvlaki lunch that followed the morning service. The lunch was to recognise the work of of the previous Committee, and welcome in the new.
What a great turnout it was! Both the hall and outdoor areas were full of people. It was a great way to bring in people of all ages, and reinforce a sense of community that we're all about. There were plenty of volunteers helping to make today such a great event, with the food preparation seeming like quite a production line.
After Father Emmanuel blessed the food, we went up to redeem our tickets for lunch packs. We had souvlakia, chips, lamb, pork, salad, bread, and olives. How amazing were the souvlakia! It is safe to say that none of us went hungry, especially since there was so much food left over that we were offered seconds.
With Greek music playing in the background, and friendly conversation, how could today be any less than perfect.
We would like to give a huge thank you to our new Committee of Management for organising today's event, and officially welcome them into their new roles.
