Archbishop Makarios started a new initiative this year – the annual Youth & Young Adult Conferences.
These have been held in each state with Archbishop Makarios presiding over each.
Perth saw it’s conference on Saturday, 8 Feb 2020, and approximately one hundred and fifty people were in attendance.
Special guests included the Archbishop himself, their Graces Bishop Aimilianos of Meloa and Bishop Elpidios of Kyaneon, along with several other clergy visiting from interstate.
The day began with a Divine Liturgy service conducted by the then Father Thalassios (now Abbot Ieronymos).
After some morning tea, it was time to kick off the conference, and everyone keenly moved into the huge marquee where it would be held. It started with a special Blessing of the Waters service, before Archbishop Makarios proceeded into his keynote speech.
With a few breaks in between and some lunch, everyone moved back into the church for an English Supplicatory Canon dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
The conference continued, there was a a small questions and answers session, which then followed with group discussions.
The conference ended, a group photo was taken, and a great relief was felt knowing that something had been accomplished.
Thank you to all the volunteers, helpers, people who donated, and all the participants.
