The West Australian Modern Greek Language Teachers’ Association Inc. (WAMGLTA) is proud to announce that this year’s WAMGLTA recipient of the Professional Teaching Council of Western Australia (PTCWA) Outstanding Professional Service Award was the Chairperson of WAMGLTA, Dr Angela Evangelinou-Yiannakis.
Angela received the Award at the PTCWA Presentation Ceremony, which took place on Wednesday 29 October at the Westin Hotel, Perth. The Award was presented to her by the PTCWA Patron, Dr Colin Pettit, and the Minister for Education, Ms Sabine Winton.
Attending the Ceremony in support of Angela were:

Angela’s citation for the Award is included below:
Dr Angela Evangelinou-Yiannakis has been Chairperson of the West Australian Modern Greek Language Teachers’ Association (WAMGLTA) since its inception nine years ago, providing exceptional leadership and has made a lasting impact on the advancement of Greek language teaching and the professional community in WA. She has dedicated countless hours to promoting Greek language education and supporting teachers of Modern Greek across the State. Angela’s contributions span governance, advocacy, and program delivery. She has coordinated the annual Speak Greek in June campaign, ensuring recognition for student participants. She represents WAMGLTA at significant cultural and community events, including the Archdiocesan Blessing and Cutting of the Vasilopita, Greek National Days and The Battle of Crete commemorations at Kings Park. She has also been an active participant in the PTCWA Presidents’ Forum, the MLTAWA State Conference, and the SLA Presidents’ Meetings.
