Inquiring and Acquiring Knowledge

People often ask, what will I do with my life?
It is good to ask this question;
But the answer always lies with us, for if we desire a meaningful and fruitful life we must strive to continuously come closer to God.

God provides us with everything that we should have
And because of this, we should have no anxiety about anything, other than to please Him so that through His goodness and mercy we might me saved.

Questions, many questions we ask;
If we do not welcome Christ into our hearts no answers can be found even for the most basic questions in life, as we are diverted from the truth.
“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” (Col.2:6)

Few people think about God in their lives, though God is in their every breath, in every heartbeat, in every leaf, in every grain of sand. At the depths of the deepest ocean, and in the outer reaches of space.
God is in everything and nothing exists that was not created by Him.
There are no boundaries to His presence and no limits to His love.

We strive to understand the mysteries of God’s creation;
and it is good for us to learn.
But it is better to inquire and to acquire knowledge through faith
than to go on searching as if it were possible to discover truth without Christ.
God’s wisdom is opened to us
by a door,
this door is Christ;
But such is our disregard for God,
that we long for good things,
as if these could be attained by our own means.
“I am the door” said Christ, “if anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.” (John 10:9)

People will disregard the law if they do not apply their conscience and their heart to it.
God’s law is about love, it is not about prescription, enforcement and control.
This is why the common law of the land is ignored when people have lost their love of God who speaks to us through the heart.
Though the common law of the land is largely founded on the commandments of the Lord, it is difficult to apply it if the people have lost their fear and love of God.
The commandments of the Lord must be applied with all our heart and soul and mind. To love Him we must love our neighbour as if it were for Christ Himself.
As many have become strangers to Christ, there is great lawlessness among the people who know no relationship with Christ and His Church.
God’s law of love is not about adherence to meaningless rules but safeguarding our path to salvation through Him.

Christians know that at their going to sleep at night, they may not again see the rising of the sun, but because they live by faith and the hope that they will see the day that knows no setting of the sun.

When children enter the Orthodox Church they are surrounded with a visual spectacle of mystery and wonder.
They see the icon of Christ the Pantocrator, the Panagia and the Saints. From this encounter they will ask many questions which will nourish their innocent searching souls. They will learn of Christ’s love for them and the parables He taught to prepare them for life.
A father and a mother who loves their children will not deny them these things.
God will remember them for teaching them His ways by preparing them for His Heavenly Kingdom, so that they may acquire good citizenship here on earth preparing them for the promised heavenly citizenship of the endless age to come.
