The West Australian Modern Greek Language Teachers’ Association Inc. (WAMGLTA) is proud to announce that Mrs Nina Stamatiou was this year’s recipient of the Professional Teaching Council of Western Australia (PTCWA) Outstanding Professional Service Award.
Nina was honoured with the Award at the 2021 Presentation Ceremony, which took place on Wednesday 27 October at the Karrinyup Country Club. In attendance were the Chair of WAMGLTA, Dr Angela Evangelinou-Yiannakis, the Deputy Chair, Ms Maria Svarnou, and the Secretary, Mr Nino Raju. The Award was accepted by Dr Evangelinou-Yiannakis on behalf of Nina, who was on Maternity Leave at the time.
Nina’s key contributions to WAMGLTA include:
- Setting up the Association’s new website in 2020.
- Working tirelessly and in close contact with the Chairperson, Dr Angela Evangelinou-Yiannakis, to ensure that all documents uploaded to the website were of the appropriate standard to reflect the work being done by the Association.
- The website (https://wamglta.weebly.com) includes a home page, along with tabs for WAMGLTA’s blog, competitions, committee members, contact details, and annual reports.
- Nina sourced many of the promotional language quotes used on each of the pages, and used her own photographs of Greece to embellish each page.
- Since completing the process, Nina has remained the webmaster, updating its content regularly and as needed.
- Training the new webmaster for the task that lies ahead.
WAMGLTA is indebted to Nina for her work on the website and congratulates Nina on her recent award from the PTCWA!
